Amendment 11- Suing States

A citizen cannot sue a state that they do not reside in. A state is also prohibited to sue a another state.
Amendment 12- Elections

This amendment edited the election process. The president and vice president should not be from the same state. In addition, it separated the president's power to the vice president power.
Amendment 13- Slavery

Slavery is now officially illegal in the entire nation. This includes any person, not just African Americans who work against their will. This also meant that black codes were abolished.
Amendment 14- Citizenship

There is a description of what being a US citizen meant. A citizen meant that that the state cannot give you the same rights as everyone else because of your colour or race. The 3/5th compromise was also removed.
AMENDMENT 15- Voting

Any man, regardless of religion or color, had the right to vote. Race would not be a issue on whether you can or can't vote.
Amendment 16- Taxes

The government has the power to tax. The government would tax a percentage on your yearly income.
Amendment 17- Senators

The process choosing of senators changed. Now, the senators will be chosen by the people. This amendment was made because the legislature branch was the one choosing the senators, who turned out to be corrupt. Each state will have 2 senators and will each be in office for 6 years.
Amendment 18- Alcohol

Selling, consuming, and transporting alcohol is prohibited in the US. The decision to ban alcohol was made because too many people would do crimes while they were drunk. The government thought if they made alcohol illegal, the criminal rate would go down.
Amendment 19- Women

Women were now allowed to vote. This change happened because of the hard work of Susan B. Anthony and Elizabeth Cady Stanton.
Amendment 20- Elections and Terms

New dates are set for the presidential and vice presidential elections. The end of the president's term will always be 20th January. The amendment also goes into detail about terms for each office.
Amendment 21- Alcohol

The 18th amendment is repealed and alcohol is legal again. Nevertheless, each state has their own separate rules on alcohol and its usage.
Amendment 22- Terms

The president has a limit on how many times it can be in office, which is 2 terms ( each term is 4 years). One exception is if the vice president had to step in, then it will have a maximum of 10 years in office.
Amendment 23- District of Columbia

Even though District of Columbia is not a state, they still have the right to 3 electors for the electoral college. This way the residents in DC also have a say on who shall run the country.
Amendment 24- Poll Tax

In order to vote, there is no need to pay a poll tax. The people should be assured that they can vote without giving anything.
Amendment 25- Vice President

If anything happens to the president, the vice president will step in his shoes and lead the nation. It also states the rules for a president that has been impeached.
Amendment 26- Voting

If you are a citizen that is 18 or above you have the right to vote. The voting age used to be 21, but it was lowered because the drafting age was 18. The people felt that if a person is old enough to fight in a war,then they are old enough to vote for the leader of the country.
Amendment 27- Salary

If the salary for the congress is changed, it cannot be active until the next session of congress. If you started out with a certain amount of money, you will earn that amount of money throughout the whole session.
